Fire always results in destruction of the property, economy and most of all the loss of lives. People are also injured as a result and if not properly and timely controlled, the fire may result in far more devastation.

2. Tokyo 1923
In 1923, the city of Tokyo was hit an earth quake, which resulted in fire eruption. The time was that of lunch and fires were burning which then spread in the whole city and was intensified by the high winds. The strong winds which served in the rapid spreading of the fire were a result of the nearby typhoon and the fire caught hold of the city very rapidly. The fire resulted in the death of some 142,000 people and leaving 1.9 million people homeless.
3. Texas 1947

This fire was a result of a fire erupting in the hold of a docked freighter, some 2,300 ton of ammonium nitrate fertilizer in the freighter was the cause of this massive fire. Many of the refineries and chemical plants along the dockyard also had a chain reaction because of this fire. 1000 buildings were leveled down and nearly 600 people were reported dead or missing.
4. San Francisco 1906

This fire resulted in death of some 3,000 people and resulted in the destruction of 25,000 buildings. This fire was partially the result of the earth quake which occurred on 18 of April 1906 and partially the result of gross mismanagement of the fire.
5. London 1666

This fire resulted in killing of only six people but served to wipe out the Great Plague that the city was infected with at the time.
6. Peshtigo Wisconsin 1871

Due to the remoteness of the upstate Wisconsin not much of the estimate of the loss could be made.
7. Halifax Nova Scotia 1917

Not a natural catastrophe, this was the result of an ammunition carrying cargo ship collided with the freighter of Norway. It
resulted in massive explosions which also caused a tsunami followed by a blizzard the next day. All this resulted in the death of over 2,000 people and some 9,000 people injured.
8. Rome 64 A.D

It is said this fire erupted in the capital of the Rome and it continued for five and a half days. Afterwards the Emperor of then Nero built his palace upon the ruins of the fire, which led many to speculate that the fire was setup by the Emperor himself.
9. London 1212

3,000 people died as a result of this fire, many of these deaths were the result of the engulfing of the London Bridge by the fire. The London Bridge was then constructed with highly inflammable material.
10. Boston 1872

This fire was a massive flow to the Economic activities of Boston; it resulted in thousands of people ending up jobless and huge amount of property being damaged.
